Opportunity for Miss Indiana and MAO contestants at Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games June 6

May 15, 2014

Attention Miss Indiana and Miss Outstanding Teen contestants! We have a very special opportunity at the upcoming Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games (June 6 on the campus of Indiana State University in Terre Haute). It’s a great way to connect with athletes ranging in age from 8-90 from across the State of Indiana and build excitement for this year’s pageant.

All of the events will take place on Friday, June 6.

3-4:30 p.m. Meet and Greet in OlympicTown (Wolf Field)

Bring your smiles and your autograph pads! This is an old-fashioned meet and greet/photo op with athletes and their families.

5:30 -6:30 p.m. VIP reception at Hulman Center

Enjoy the sounds of a steel drum and percussion ensemble as you meet board members, families, elite athletes and donors that make up Special Olympics.

7 p.m. Opening Ceremonies at Hulman Center

For the past eight years we’ve welcomed athletes into Hulman Center at Opening Ceremonies with a High Five line. This year we want to go after a record for the world’s longest high five line. The parade of athletes last roughly an hour, but we would like to encourage you to stay for some excellent entertainment! The program will end at 9 p.m.

All events are casual with crown and sash. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please contact Paula Meyer at Indiana State University via email at paula.meyer no later than May 31. She will provide you with additional details, a campus map and parking information.

2010 Miss America Contestants Return to
Fashion Mall’s Runway for
5th Annual Meet and Greet

For the fifth consecutive year, the 53 Miss America contestants walked the runway at the Fashion Mall. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Miss America Organization Board of Directors’ Lynn Hackerman Weidner, Miss New Jersey 1971.

After the contestants walked the clear, Plexiglas, 80 foot long retractable runway with multimedia screens playing, there was a meet and greet session where they signed autographs and photos for the public.

Fashion Mall is the largest shopping destination on Las Vegas Boulevard. It is located at 3200 Las Vegas Boulevard or via Mel Torme Way, just off of Industrial Road. Anchors include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Bloomingdale’s Home and Nordstrom.

Tune in to the 2010 Miss America Pageant, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT tape delayed on TLC, live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino! For tickets, visit: http://www.ticketmaster.com.

53 Contestants Flip Pancakes to Raise Money for Children’s Miracle Network

January 22, 2010

As they gear up for the 2010 Miss America Pageant on TLC January 30, the 53 contestants armed with forks and spatulas and donning aprons and their state sashes, gathered in Las Vegas for a pancake breakfast in honor of Children’s Miracle Network. The contestants were also joined by very special children who have benefited from Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

Contestants hoped to raise awareness about IHOP’s National Pancake Day celebration, nationwide fundraising effort that aims to raise $5 million in five years for Children’s Miracle Network programs at children’s hospitals and other local charities throughout the United States.

IHOP’s fifth National Pancake Day celebration benefiting Children’s Miracle Network is set to take place February 23, 2010, when nearly 1,400 IHOP restaurants nationwide will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities. In 2010, IHOP hopes to raise $1.75 million, which will mark a cumulative $5 million raised in 5 years, all of which has gone – and will continue to go – directly to charities in the communities in which the money is raised.

GREAT articles about Nicole from Lafayette Journal & Courier!!

January 11, 2010

There were two great articles about Nicole’s prep for Miss America and about her actual send-off event this weekend in the Lafayette Journal & Courier. Below are links to the articles, as well as a couple of photos (attached). For those who weren’t able to make it, Nicole’s send-off was really wonderful! She looks positively amazing, and I think she’s going to represent us very, very well at Miss America!
